The Bridge To Understanding

There are those of us who live within a deafening state of anguish.

Human beings harbouring haunted memories,
Waltzing through their forests of weed,
A symphony of prescription pills,
And at the bottom of every bottle,
To release their pain and their past,
Trapped every single second,
Waiting for their own personalized fob card,
To unlock their minds and the trauma from their childhood experiences.

There are those that are trying to survive each moment,
Still trapped in a piercing yet soundless decomposition.

Misunderstood and lonely, they gather, down under a bridge,
From evening's start to it's break of day,
With their cardboard blankets, cold,
Like much of today's humanity.

There are those that live with a hole,
That seems to enlarge and encompass each passing day.

A couple leaves their affluent neighborhood, separately,
Minds full of stress, they drive,
Drive to each of their workplaces,
A child in each luxury vehicle,
An argument, verbally had arose,
Like the day before, and the day before that one,
Their lives are in immeasurable brokered turmoil.

Do you mortgage your happiness?
Is there something in us more than just a great consumer?

For decades, Darren Kaytor numbed himself,
And often throughout his life was homeless,
Like so very many, his fragile young body had been sexually violated,
Yet, he has provided extraordinary acts for humanity, like:
Saving a family from a burning house,
And he sparked and championed a cause, he fought for,
And helped shape: "Jimmy's Law - Bill 601".

With their child buckled in the backseat, acting out,
They drive by a homeless person, with decayed, broken down teeth,
Their first thought... maybe he placed other lives before his own?
Perhaps he created a bill, or bills that helped my life? Right?

Imagine bridging civilization into a peaceful co-existence?

An existence of thought for all,
A happy place for all,
A safe place for all,
Harmony for all,
Peace for all,
Love for all.

When civilization loses sight of the fact,
The fact that they are one and one with everything,
That their very self is an integral part,
Part of the whole universe -
A modern civilization that separates themselves,
Has no identity and falls victim,
Falls, falls into a false sense of self,
Falls into a mechanical being, a being,
That does things without thinking,
That does things without feeling,
A being that acts out of habit,
A clash of civilizations like this,
Will not last much longer,
Nothing can,
And thus,
The end result:
Madness.

How does one move away from misery?
How does one box step away from darkness?
How does one ballroom dance away from the bigotry?
How does one dance in three-quarter time?
How does one waltz in peace full-time?
How does one find freedom?

Now is the time to observe our lives.

For we must observe life,
For our observations lead us,
Lead us to recognize an understanding,
An understanding of our place in the universe, of knowing,
Knowing who we are, and we, we are not shaped by,
By a luxury vehicle, nor an expensive designer handbag.

Listen to the needs of all children,
Do not empower alienating behaviors,
Teach a child, this fragile little wonder,
That they are not defined by a luxury vehicle,
That they are not defined by expensive designer footwear,
That they are not defined by a house in an affluent neighborhood.

Therefore guide, guide a child, this fragile little light,
House them with proper principles and values,
House them with proper behavior, to behave,
Behave in a positive manner, always listen,
Listen to the needs and the cry of a child,
Orchestrate this harmonization of understanding.

Let us all move to a pathway of understanding,
Let us all harbour a peaceful co-existence,
Let us bridge unity; unity for all walks of life,
Let us bridge thoughtfulness; thoughtfulness for all walks of life,
Let us bridge a safe place; a safe place for all walks of life,
Let us bridge harmony; harmony for all walks of life,
Let us bridge peace; peace for all walks of life,
Let us bridge love; love for all walks of life,
Let us all walk within and through the light of our Creator.

So that the end for which all was created becomes one community.

For my mother, Bridget Rose Yohnke and her unending love and support.
