My friends and I were talking about tryouts and they didn't see any point in trying out because they thought they would be sitting the bench anyway. Well I told them that if they can't even tell themselves that they have a chance, why should our coach give them one?

This was a quote commonly used and very much believed in by my best friend, Olivia Mainwaring. Unfortunately and much to my despair, she died in Oct '04' due to a very rare cancer. I decided I really wanted to submit this quote and make it known to people out there to really give life all you've got, because you never know when it is going to end! Remember: Persistence and Resistance!

When I am in trouble, then I think about this quote. That now, this time, it tells me to do something but I can't find any way to do it. But after thinking about this quote, I feel very happy and feel a new invisible power is with us.

This used to be quoted to us children by my father in our native tongue many years ago. Curry is a typical Indian dish which would to a layman be - a slow concoction of herbs, condiments and spices in an oil base with a certain vegetable/meat dish slowly cooking in it. Each item is to be added, in the right amount, at the instant when the previously added ingredient has completely enriched the curry. The parallel to life is that we must savor each moment until the full flavor has been extracted and then move forward to savor the next. To hurry, both in life and while brewing a curry, will get you to the end, but sans any flavor.
