Quiet Friend of Mine
Friends Enrich Your Life
So many different faces
We've worn throughout the years
Sifting through relationships
Victories and tears
We traveled down different roads
At times they would converge
Some broken hearts would drift apart
While other friendships merge
At times the journey takes its toll
Alone we seek our rest
That's when you took me as your guest
And friendship was expressed
And yet the road continued on
And we both sought our ways
Chasing dreams and finding things
That soon took up our days
But through the clutter and the crowds
Frantic to keep pace
Across the hectic miles and days
You gave me your embrace
Sometimes broken and alone
I clutched a simple truth
That through it all, if should I fall
I had a friend in you
Your modest words dust me off
And set me on my feet
Without pretense give me the sense
To push away defeat
And while the distance still exists
Somehow at times you're near
Stepping in now and again
To lead me through my fears
Now through the screaming, silent nights
When sleep cannot be found
I find a way through the fray
To climb to higher ground
For in the shadows of my life
A distant mountain shines
Found so many years ago
This quiet friend of mine
