"Real life isn't always going to be perfect or go our way, but the recurring acknowledgement of what is working in our lives can help us not only to survive but surmount our difficulties."
Sara Ban Breathnach --- Submitted by Lauren Covington
"All of our behavior results from the thoughts that preceded it. So the thing to work on is not your behavior but the thing that caused your behavior, your thoughts."
Dr. Wayne Dyer --- Submitted by Lauren Covington
"The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be. Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you. The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. I know for sure that what we dwell on is who we become. Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure."
Oprah Winfrey --- Submitted by Lauren Covington
"We confide in our strength, without boasting it; we respect that of others, without fearing it."
Thomas Jefferson
"Obey the voice within - it commands us to give of ourselves and help others. As long as we have the capacity to give, we are alive."
Kirk Douglas
"Would that there were an award for people who come to understand the concept of enough. Good enough. Successful enough. Thin enough. Rich enough. Social responsible enough. When you have self-respect, you have enough."
Gail Sheehy
"You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage - pleasantly, smilingly, non-apologetically - to say 'no' to other things. And the way you do that is by having a bigger 'yes' burning inside."
Stephen Covey --- Submitted by Lauren C. --- New Jersey
"Releasing addiction to expectation and judgment may not seem worthwhile until you discover its powerful assistance in embracing love for all and brightening the glow of your essence."

Through some difficult times of growth in my life, I've come to realize the poison of expectation and judgment. It really is destructive in many ways I never knew. It has not been helpful and it's requiring much time within myself to shed the addiction.
"Give is an unselfish act; it tells who you are and how much selfishness there is in your heart. Giving unconditionally, in all aspects of your life, is an act of love which fills your spirit with peace and your world with blessings."

"If someone gets nice, it doesn't mean they're plastic - it's just good manners."

Life is good when you respond to things in a positive way.
"If only we could properly comprehend how precious life really is, we would certainly treasure and enjoy every minute rather than being bitter or complaining about the silly little things that just don't matter. Forgive, love, laugh, cry, don't ever put anything off and most of all just be happy; you don't know what is to come."

I was inspired to write this after watching a program about someone who was told they only had 6 months left to live. I just thought that if only we knew how long we have left on this earth, then surely we'd approach life differently and treasure every moment. The time is NOW to live!
"Never go to sleep mad at the person you love."

"Sometimes, there are funny things we do; we laugh when we are supposed to cry, we shout when we are supposed to keep silent, we become hungry when we are supposed to be filled, we move when we are supposed to sit and numerous jokes are cast when we should be serious, A man is only a man when he knows the right time, for the right deeds, for the right occasion."
Written in 2010 by Sani Numa Emmanuel --- Nigeria
The majority of people today can find themselves in huge trouble. Why? Because they took a step, which they felt was right, but it was 100% irrelevant to the occasion.
"Ultimately, throughout our life, we become either our own worst enemy or our own very best friend. This love or hate relationship is quietly inside each of us. This relationship with ourselves is affecting everything that we do, every thought we have and choice of actions we take or don't take, daily. It is greatly linked to how we treat and love others in our life. This relationship with ourselves is always against our self progression or it is for it. Which one are you becoming?"

This is one of life's ultimate truths.
" Honor another woman today. Let a beautiful woman be beautiful. Let a strong woman be strong. Let an intelligent woman be intelligent. Let a beloved woman be loved. Let me be me, unbound by another woman's envy."

"What exactly is hate? Hate is the root of all evil. Hate is nothing more than fear, and fear is nothing more than the unknown. You say, "You cheated on me, I hate you." Or are you really just afraid of being hurt? You say, "I hate you. You stole from me." Or are you really just afraid of letting someone in, in fear of repeat occurrences?? So, I say again, hate is nothing more than fear, and fear is nothing more than the unknown. So if it's fear you really hate, overcome and adapt to your fears, and you will never hate."

I wrote this in hopes to try and eliminate the word hate... Hate is the root of all evil and people use the word without thought. I hope this helps.
"What you see is highly interrelated with who you are. You can't go very far in changing your 'seeing' without simultaneously changing your 'being' and vise versa. The way you see the world is a reflection of who you are."
Written in 2010 by Peter M. Shumba --- South Africa
Two people can look at the same thing, differ, and yet both be right. It's not intellectual or a matter of IQ; it's psychological - a matter of the cognitive capacity.
"Meaning doesn't lie in things. Meaning lies in us. When we attach value to things that aren't love - the money, the car, the house, the prestige - we are loving things that can't love us back. We are searching for meaning in the meaningless. Money, of itself, means nothing. Material things, of themselves, mean nothing. It's not that they're bad. It's that they're nothing."

"The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea."
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
"I am who I am, from my past. But I will be whom I want to be from the creation of my future, which is in my hands."

Most people fear change but you cannot avoid it. The sooner we adapt, the better for us.
"If yesterday wasn't so important, today wouldn't exist."
Written in 2010 by Eric Hueneke --- Texas
"Listening is such a simple act. It requires us to be present, and that takes practice, but we don't have to do anything else. We don't have to advise, or coach or sound wise. We just have to be willing to sit there and listen."
Margaret. J. Wheatley --- Submitted by George Wachirah --- Kenya
"Love is a choice... The older you get and if you've been burnt enough, you actually paint yourself a picture of who and what you want in life. You don't fall in love immediately. If a woman chooses to give a man a chance, she usually ends up loving him. It's easy for a woman to love; she just needs to choose the right partner that deserves her unconditional love."

"Hard words can't touch a soft heart, but soft words can touch a hard heart. So speak in a soft way and the world will be yours."

"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion.
I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward."
Kurt Vonnegut --- Submitted by Riyan S. --- India
"The best way to persuade is with the ears."
Les Parrott --- Submitted by Joshua Ejim --- Nigeria
People don't care about how much you know till they know how much you care. We need to listen to understand, not just to wait for our turn to reply. It's in giving our undivided attention and listening with an open mind that we hear the true feelings of what the person is trying really hard to convey in words.
"After the initial infatuation of romance wears off... you know you are in love when you see that person from the inside, out... and no longer from the outside, in."
