"Compassion is not only relevant to those who are blameless victims, but also to those whose suffering stems from failures, personal weakness, or bad decisions. You know, the kind you and I make every day. "

Why Aren't We Compassionate With Ourselves?
So what does compassion really mean? Is it only for some people, or... all of us?
Compassion isn't a prize you have to fight for. It's a human emotion we dish out to others way more often than we do for ourselves. So... why is that?
And isn't it strange how quick we are to give compassion to others, but when we mess up, we shame ourselves instead?
We say, You should've known better. We replay the moment, beat ourselves up like that'll fix it.
But the thing is... compassion isn't about giving someone a free pass. It's about seeing the human part in the middle of the mess.
It means understanding people are complicated... and sometimes hurting people hurt themselves, too.
So what if we could show up for ourselves like we would a friend? Not to let ourselves off the hook, but to stay soft while we grow. That's the hard part, right? Staying soft.
But maybe that's the power of compassion - it keeps the door open. It says, You're still worthy, even when you're working through it. And honestly? Maybe we just don't hear that enough. Especially not from ourselves.
