Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone else, and you get frustrated? Maybe you forgot that we are all different and have our own styles of communication.
Some people grew up in families where it seemed like everyone was talking at the same time - with different topics swirling around the room. Other people grew up in homes where it was different; one person talked while everyone else listened.
The same thing can happen in the work environment. Have you ever had your office door closed, and someone ignores it, walks in, and starts yammering away? The opposite can be true, too; a knock on the door and then silence - they are waiting for you to say something.
No one is right, and no one is wrong. It's how they learned to communicate. So the next time someone's communication style is different than yours, take a breath; wait a few seconds, then listen to what it is they are trying to tell you. Figure out a way to make the exchange of information, feelings, ideas, or questions a good experience for both of you.
Yes, be a communicator, not a criticizer. You never know how it might all turn out.
