A Different Way To See Obstacles

Sometimes what's ahead is exactly your next step.

I still remember the first time I read today's quote. It surprised me because I had never thought about the things standing in front of me quite that way.

I think most of us naturally see what's ahead as something that might slow us down, get in our way, or keep us from where we want to go.

But what if it isn't really blocking you?

What if it's simply the next thing you're being asked to deal with?

That small change in perspective stayed with me. It took what could have felt negative and gave it a completely different meaning. There was something freeing about that.

Years later, when I had business cards printed, I put this quote on the back. I wanted it there as a reminder to myself to stay open to whatever life placed in front of me and not be so quick to assume it was a problem.

I wonder if you've ever come across something you've read that stayed with you for years.

Maybe it was a quote. Maybe a sentence in a book. Maybe something someone said at just the right moment.

Maybe that's why some words stay with us. They give us another way to look at what's already in front of us.
