Acceptance Of The Way Things Are
Today's topic, Acceptance, and follow-up story are very dear to my heart. Maybe you know someone who has a special needs or developmentally disabled person in their family? According to the CDC, recent estimates in the United States show that about one in six, or about 17%, of children aged 3 through 17 years have a one or more developmental disabilities.
I grew up with a special needs brother and yes, it was hard at times. One thing that has stuck with me through the years is his light that shines from within, no matter what the situation is. He is brave, loving, and joyful - gifts he brought to our family and still shares with his friends, colleagues, and all of our relatives and friends. I am humbled and inspired by his grace and feel lucky to have him in my life.
