Helen Keller is legendary. A blind and deaf woman who conquered obstacles we couldn't even imagine and a trendsetter in so many other ways. Her life story is worth reading to understand what is possible.

Optimist, pessimist, realist, and idealist. Labels for how people perceive the world and none of them are bad or wrong.

Everybody's situation is different, and even when you think you know someone, you don't know what is going on inside their head or heart. The label you attach to their words and actions might not tell the real or whole truth.

I agree that it can be hard to stay optimistic all the time. All you have to do is look around, and you will see there is so much pain and sorrow in the world that it could fill you up for a lifetime. So when people appear to be pessimists, maybe they are, or maybe the situation has them feeling down.

Yet, what about all of the goodness, kindness, empathy, sympathy, love, and concern there is everywhere? Yes, being optimistic can help you through tough times because you focus on what is positive.
