"It’s humbling to start fresh. It takes a lot of courage. But it can be reinvigorating. You just have to put your ego on a shelf and tell it to be quiet. "

Your Ego Might Get In The Way?
Starting fresh sounds exciting until your ego realizes it does not get a shortcut this time... so what do we do when being a beginner feels uncomfortable again?
Starting fresh has a funny way of humbling us. Almost everyone I know has had to do it at least a couple of times. New career. New relationship. New season of life they never planned for. And every time, the ego shows up like it is trying to help, when really it is just scared.
The ego hates being the beginner. It wants proof. It wants results now. It wants to skip the awkward stage where you do not know what you are doing yet. But that stage is where growth actually happens. That discomfort? That is not failure. That is learning in real time.
When we start over, we are stepping into the unknown, and vulnerability feels risky. So the ego tries to protect us by saying things like, you should be further along by now, or you already tried this once. But protection can quietly turn into a wall. And before we know it, we are standing in our own way, guarding ourselves from the very thing we say we want.
Sometimes progress does not require pushing harder. Sometimes it requires softening. Setting the ego aside. Letting yourself be new again. Letting life teach you something different this time around.
So here is the honest question worth sitting with: is your ego helping you move forward, or is it just keeping you comfortable where you are?
Thank you for being here and take care.
Love and blessings,
Marlene
