Focus On Your Own Journey

I'm curious. Whose journey are you focusing on? Is it yours, or does it belong to someone else?

It's easy to fall off the track and latch on to someone else's journey that you find intriguing, delightful, sensational, or just downright cool. Why is that?

I suspect it's because we always compare ourselves and our accomplishments with others. We want to fit in. We want to have what that other person has, yet, when we focus on someone else, we delay the time, energy, and focus that we could be putting into our own life.

I suspect you might not be giving yourself enough credit for what you have already accomplished. You don't have a fancy car, live in a mansion, or have oodles of money - so what?

You may be the kindest or most responsible person who takes their commitments seriously. Perhaps you have a wonderful friend who sticks with you no matter what. A lot of people would love to be you!

The next time you compare yourself with others, stop and remember this: you don't know what they did to get where they are, the sacrifices, the years of struggle, and it may still be going on in their lives. So instead, be thankful that you are who you are, and if you need to improve or change, do it now. Then, your future self will be grateful for the time, care, and love you put into building the life you deserve.
