What kind of difference do you want to make in the world? When Jane Goodall decided to go to Tanzania in 1960 to study chimpanzees, the rest of the world knew very little about how they lived, socialized, and communicated. Most people saw them as just "monkeys," but Dr. Godall soon discovered that chimpanzees make and use tools. This discovery is considered one of the greatest achievements of twentieth-century scholarship.

She stayed and lived with the chimpanzees as neighbors, documenting their social and family interactions for 60 years. Yes, she made a difference in their lives and ours. Today her work continues in other areas, too.

Today let's take a look at Jane Goodall's life. About Jane is a story that shows us how curiosity, compassion, and commitment can make a huge difference in how we humans view creatures other than ourselves.
