Today's "Something Extra" : The Power Of The Dream - by Artist Doug West

Doug West is America's Premier Sports Artist. We have been fortunate over the years to feature and share his articles. Maybe you've seen his work including the 1984 Detroit Tigers Lithograph, the Cal Ripken Legacy series, where Doug created four specialized paintings for the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and the Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Lithograph.

Today I want to share with you one of Doug's earlier pieces. In it, he writes: "As an artist, I have often thought that having a dream is like creating a sketch since it very closely matches how I would begin a painting with a simple drawing. With a few pencil lines and an eye for movement, I find the right sense of balance. Jazzing it up with color, the theme emerges and ultimately the story is told he wrote that talks about the power of dreams, and how they affect him as an artist."
