Focus: Be Good To Yourself
|
|
Welcome to the Sixteenth Edition of MotivateUs.com's
Newsletter
My Dear Friend,
How is your self-worth doing? I ask because many times I receive emails
from people who seem to doubt themselves and their abilities. Trying to
understand exactly what the problem might be, I find myself asking more
questions than giving advice.
You see we all know our own answers, it's just sometimes we don't want to
work through the process to uncover what we know. Our hearts and minds,
our emotions and thoughts dictate how we perceive ourselves and
others.
Today's newsletter is about the topic of Self-Worth. As you read,
please remember this:
You are special. You are able and you can do what your heart
desires if you focus, plan and act accordingly.
Ready? Let's start now!

Something I Was Feeling and Thinking:

Have you ever noticed that sometimes we find it easier to be nice to
someone else rather than being nice to ourselves?
Consider the possibility that if we don't take care of our ourselves, if
we're not good to ourselves, how can we be living the life that we want,
need and deserve?
Don't be afraid to be good to yourself. You deserve the same love, care,
attention and respect that you give to others.
Here's to you and your ability to be good to yourself too!
If you have an idea or suggestion, I invite you to share it:

An Article / Story To Ponder:

The Paradigm Shift - Living A Conscious LifeThe Relativity of
Your Life
We live in the world of the relative. What and whom we surround ourselves
with, how we spend our waking hours, and the type of person we become is
in direct relation to all that surrounds us.
Many of our choices are conscious. They are the simple choices such as;
"I prefer a black car to a green car, so I am buying the black car."
Many of our choices are unconscious. They represent those areas of our
lives where we feel disenchanted, disappointed, empty, frustrated, and
unfulfilled. Our heads may tell us one thing, such as: "I have to stay in
this job to pay my bills" when in reality, we dread facing our workday
each morning.
Other areas of unconscious choices lie in the area of unfulfilled
relationships. The kind of people we share our time with. The type of
romantic relationships we have.
There is only one way to tell if it is your conscious mind, or
unconscious beliefs, that created these choices for you:
Ask yourself how deeply fulfilled you feel with those people.
Do you feel supported, nurtured, respected, valued, honored, cared for
and loved? Or do you feel drained, taken for granted, hurt, depleted,
disrespected and used?
Your greatest truth lies in your heart. You KNOW the answer. That answer
creates the dawn of your opportunity to replace an unfulfilled life with
a fulfilled one. It creates a tremendous growth opportunity. The growth
opportunity of your life!
Who you are, who surrounds you, what you have, what you would
prefer to have, and most importantly what you deserve, are all chosen by
YOU.
It takes tremendous courage to face your deepest truth. For most people,
myself included, it takes a paradigm shift.
Your paradigm is your general view of something.
If you think certain people who comprise a certain portion of the
population are not good, your paradigm will shift when you meet someone
of that exact group of people who shows you that they are not ALL that
way.
THAT is a paradigm shift.
What about how YOU are? What is your general view of you?
For me, it took untold heartache, countless hours of therapy, and deep
self questioning before I found the inner courage to align my conscious
thoughts (I deserve the best) with my unconscious belief that I was not
worth much at all.
Guess which belief was running the show? It was the unconscious
one. The belief that I was not worth that much brought me the
circumstances that showed me what I was tolerating, relative to what I
could have.
Once your unconscious beliefs are brought to light, or come up to the
surface, they dissipate. When that happens, a deep and positive inner
shift takes place. You have grown.
No longer will you live any area of your life where you feel you are
treated like dirt. You will only work in the type of job you absolutely
love. You will only be in a relationship where you are treated
beautifully. You will also feel worthy enough to extend yourself to
others with an open heart, without having a fear that you will be
hurt.
You will feel strong, confident and much more of the REAL you. The real
you is relative to those parts of your life that do not feel like they
truly belong.
What kind of company do you keep? Do you hang out with criminals or
people who help uplift humanity? Which do you really prefer deep
within?
Do you have a spouse or lover who adores you, or one who treats you like
garbage? Which do you prefer?
This is the relativity of your life. All of our choices, both conscious
and unconscious, lie in our self worth.
Look at your life and you will find the indicator of your self worth. It
is a deep, transformative process to uproot the unconscious beliefs that
have created pain in our lives.
As your beliefs about yourself change, so too will your life change. It
is all relative to what lies within.
You will know when you have grown. Your outer life will mirror your inner
life in a healthier, more positive and life enhancing way.
It may be scary, however, choosing the best will show you the real truth:
that you ARE the best. Relative to the old you, the changes in your life
will be profound. It will feel like a whole new life. The life you
DESERVE to live.

Something I'd Like To Share:

Manifesting Your True Self
First, enter into a higher level of
acceptance of your current life situation and the actions that attracted
it into being. Acceptance is key ... as resistance keeps us trapped in
the unwanted state; as "what we resist persists" ... it is helpful to
send thoughts of love inward and to ask your higher self for direction
and comfort when needed or desired.
Know that each step in your evolution helps to serve on your life's
journey ... as each place is needed to arrive at your true self. So,
fully accept and trust in what is in your present reality and the process
along the way to become the ultimate and best you!
Next, bring present awareness upon any undesired or addictive behavior
each time it may occur. Trying not to judge or place any guilt or blame
upon yourself or others ... and the power it once held over you will
start diminishing.
Finally, enter into your place of inner wisdom to access what may need to
be forgiven / healed to regain your sense of balance, peace and health,
so that the illusory need to continue any unwanted behavior will further
dissolve.
From this space of acceptance, trust, present awareness, and inner
direction positive and permanent changes will naturally flow!

Something To Encourage You:

Acknowledge Your Self-Worth
Uncovering Hidden Treasure
My mother-in-law sat on the beach in Aruba and reached for her cold
beverage nestled in the sand by her chair. She miscalculated her grasp
and instead, her hand dove into the sand and she pulled out a glorious
14K solid gold rope necklace. Teams of salvage hunters spend millions of
dollars, countless years and untold hours searching for lost treasure,
more often finding it elusive. How is it then, some people find treasure
when not seeking it, and others hunt and never find anything even when
using elaborate calculations? The dichotomy of old sayings, "It'll show
up when you least expect it," versus "Persistence pays," provides Spirit
an opportunity to intrigue us in our journey and increase the value of
things we desire but cannot yet manifest.
Hidden vs. Missing
When something is missing, it means it once existed in our life and it's
no longer there. When something is hidden, that means it's still there,
but we can no longer see it. In life, how do we distinguish between the
two qualities of perceived lack? In both instances, we experience a void
- we can't touch or feel what we want. From misplaced car keys to hidden
clues, we struggle with filling the void with what we already know - that
which once existed - instead of moving towards something better.
The qualities of things hidden range from stifled emotions to disguised
authenticity and integrity; to secrets about ourselves we don't want the
world to see. Missing things usually represent what we need to learn. If
life repeats the lesson over and over for us, then we clearly missed the
point of the lesson. Missing means a gap, a space, an emptiness for
something which once served as a part of us, or for something we need to
learn to complete the circle.
Hidden Meanings
Buried deep between the lines of written or spoken words, we get a
glimpse of interpretation that our life experiences brought to our
present moments. We attach many translations to subtle nuances that stem
from our belief about who we are and what we need to discover. Forgetting
to surrender to the Infinite and let go of judgment, we ascribe a meaning
often all-too familiar with our repeated patterns instead of allowing new
ideas and opportunities for growth to emerge.
The true meaning of any dusky perceptions lies not within our immediate
accumulation of experience to shine the light on the unknown. Instead,
our piercing beam of insight and willingness to progress forward emerges
as authentic understanding in all of life's foggy depths of confusion. No
mystical forces at work, simply accepting situations and circumstances at
face value, without prejudice brings about the highest interpretations
possible.
Hidden Blessings
The saying, "Be careful what you ask for, for you shall surely get it,"
cautions loudly in our minds when we dare to ask for something others
deem as greedy or ill-guided. While Spirit focuses equally on our
declarations of what we do and do not want in our lives, it also
understands that a lesson presents more profound if the prayer goes
unanswered.
Many times we look back at our requests of God and wonder why they never
materialized. Later, after life unfolds, we realize if our exact
petitions appeared, things would turn out much differently than we
intended and we rationalize that the unanswered prayer represented a
hidden blessing. In situations, which on the surface appear negative, we
find precious rewards in the little blessings carefully protecting us
from what we believed we wanted.
What Are You Hiding?
Inside each of us, burn the embers of understanding and coals of
smoldering wisdom. With humility, many of us deny the truth about these
gifts from life and bury our talents beneath our smoky exterior. We
mistakenly think that if we disguise our true selves, we hide our
strengths and weaknesses from the world thereby protecting ourselves from
the harm of exposure. Additionally, we grow to expect the worst from the
revelation of who we are, instead of allowing the possibility that more
good enter our lives if we simply take the risk.
Spirit invites us to reveal the treasure of our authentic selves and
uncover greatness! Day by day, we are shown scenarios that portray
greater abundance and prosperity if we only took the risk of digging up
and displaying the hidden treasures of our glorious self to the world.
When we clutch tightly to a gold coin, it never transforms. It's stuck as
a gold coin. If we open our hand and use it to bring more good into our
lives, then all are enhanced by the transaction.
Today, take a moment to consider the elements hidden or missing in your
life. Fill in the gaps with whatever you need to feel complete with Life
and search for those parts of yourself that you scurried away out of your
present awareness. When you look for hidden meanings, be prepared for
answered and unanswered prayers to equally educate you in that lesson and
others. Frequently lessons overlap and the jewels we glean from one
learning experience blend perfectly with others.
Remember the most precious treasure of all already lives within
you. If you willingly identify and acknowledge your self-worth, the
treasure chest of life awaits you!

Three Quotes To Motivate You:"There are plenty of difficult
obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of
them."
--- Ralph Marston
"You are what you think you are, what you feel you are, and most
importantly who you tell yourself you are. So think positive. Life is too
short for negative thinking."
--- Barbara Perry
"The art of being yourself at your best is the art of unfolding your
personality into the person you want to be. Be gentle with yourself,
learn to love yourself, to forgive yourself, for only as we have the
right attitude toward ourselves can we have the right attitude toward
others. "
--- Wilfred A. Peterson

Until Next Time, Remember:

Be Good To YourselfBe Good To Yourself.
Trust yourself.
You know what you want and need.
Put yourself first.
You can't be anything for anybody else unless you take care of
yourself.
Let your feelings be known.
They are important.
Express your opinions.
It's good to hear yourself talk.
Value your thinking.
You do it well.
Take the time and space you need.
Even if other people are wanting something from you.
When you need something, don't talk yourself out of it.
Even if you can't have it, it's ok to need.
When you are scared, let someone know.
Isolating yourself when you're scared makes it worse.
When you feel like running away, let yourself feel the scare.
Think about what you fear will happen and decide what you need to do.
When you're angry, let yourself feel the anger.
Decide what you want to do; just feel it, express it, or take some
action.
When you're sad, think about what would be comforting.
When you're hurt, tell the person who hurt you.
Keeping it inside makes it grow.
When you have work to do and you don't want to do it,
Decide what really needs to be done and what can wait.
When you want something from someone else, ask.
You'll be okay if they say no.
Asking is being true to yourself.
When you need help, ask.
Trust people to say no if they don't want to give.
When people turn you down,
It usually has to do with them, and not with you.
Ask someone else for what you need.
When you feel alone, know there are people who want to be with you.
Fantasize what it would be like to be with each of them.
Decide if you want to make that happen.
When you feel anxious, let yourself know that in your head.
You've moved into the future to something scary
And your body has gotten up the energy for it.
Come back to the present.
When you want to say something loving to someone, go ahead.
Expressing your feeling is not a commitment.
When someone yells at you, physically support yourself
By relaxing into your chair or putting your feet firmly on the floor.
Remember to breathe.
Think about the message they are trying to get across to you.
When you're harassing yourself, stop.
You do it when you need something.
Figure out what you need and get it.
When everything seems wrong,
You are overwhelmed and need some comforting.
Ask for it.
Afterwards, you can think about what you need to do.
When you want to talk to someone new and are scared, breathe.
Don't start rehearsing, just plunge in.
If it doesn't go well, you can stop.
If you're doing something you don't like to do,
(such as smoking or overeating), Stop.
Think about what you really want.
If you're stuck and can't think clearly, talk out loud to someone.
When you can't think straight,
Stop thinking. Feel.
When you're in need of love, reach out.
There are people who love you.
When you're confused, it's usually because you think you should
Do one thing and you want to do another.
Dialogue with yourself or present both sides to a friend.
When you feel harried, slow down.
Deliberately slow your breathing, your speech, and your movements.
When you have tears, cry.
When you feel like crying and it's not a safe place to cry,
Acknowledge your pain and promise yourself a good cry later.
Keep your promise.
When everything seems gray, look for color.
If one of these rules seems wrong for you, talk about it with
someone.
Then, rewrite it so it fits you.
Remember, Be Good To Yourself!
