Focus: The Invitation

Welcome to the Fourth Edition of MotivateUs.com's Newsletter
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your
suggestions and for your continuing support. If you find value in the
newsletter, please feel free to share with your friends and colleagues. I
appreciate and value all the comments you have sent in. Thank you for
your kindness and know that I always look forward to hearing from you.
Also, if I don't email you back right away, don't get nervous - I will.
It may take a day or two. :-)

Something I Was Feeling and Thinking:
So often we forget that we
can only control ourselves and how we react to situations. Be joyful and
grateful for all you have. Focus on what you want, the life you want to
live and become the caring and kind person you know you are.
Everyone, including me, has moments of doubt, pain and loneliness. That's
part of the human experience - lessons we need to learn - so we can
become more compassionate people. Everyone has triumph and tragedy in
their life - it's hard sometimes to be positive when all around you seems
so wrong.
And...you can do it!
Be committed to becoming the best person you can be. Always invest in
yourself first. Learn, grow, reach! Remember you can do anything and be
anyone you want to be. Learn to embrace change and use it to propel you
to greatness.
As my friend Jim from Texas says,
"A great week is yours for the taking! Take and give more than you
take!"
Love,
Marlene

Something I'd Like To Share:
Have you ever read something that
spoke to you so intensely that you wondered if the words came from your
own soul?
Back in 1997 when I started MotivateUs, I received this hauntingly
beautiful prose/poem from a young woman in Texas. As I started to read
it, I knew immediately why it came to me. The words reflect how I feel
about myself and what I want to know about others I engage with. Thank
you Amy, for sharing "The Invitation" by Oriah "Mountain Dreamer".
The InvitationIt doesn't interest me what you do for a
living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life's betrayals
or have become shriveled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
"Yes."
It doesn't interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

A Few Points To Ponder - Member Feedback
Follow Up To My Wish For You
May you leave behind little pieces
of you in the lives you've touched.
May that little piece be enough for others - enough to lead them toward
inner greatness.
Silly gestures now, so not silly anymore,
A bit confused of why the path has to reform itself and find another
shape and space...
But be content, for everything happens for a reason.
Some days will be spent overthinking about the days already passed...
This will be normal, after all, we are human.
But don't forget who you are and where you're going to, for sometimes
Our dreams become a mountain, too high too climb and so you choose to
stay down,
But DON'T, for your purpose is unique...and only you can do it.
Never feel as if you're not enough - for the world loves to tell you
so.
And whatever you do remain true to you,
Nobody needs to love you...let them choose, whilst you love yourself, and
no matter
What you go through, that should always be enough!

Follow Up To "Your Biggest Challenge" (Newsletter 3)My son died
in a car accident in 1989 and I stopped driving at that time. A friend at
work drove me to work every day until last June when they retired. I had
just quit smoking in May (after smoking for 30 years) and here I was
stuck in a position of having to drive.
I have always kept my license up and owned I car. I was so scared of
having to drive. Luckily I only worked a short distance from where I
lived. There were people at work who would help me get to work but I
figured it was time to do it myself.
I had been getting newsletters from Cyrus Café and I wrote them and told
them of my situation. They were very helpful and suggested EFT. I did EFT
and have been driving myself to and from work. I still don't do a lot of
pleasure driving but I do get myself to and from work and to the grocery
store.
This past year has been a year of many changes in my life - the smoking -
the driving - my work position changed - I ended a 12 year relationship.
There was never a thought in my mind that I wouldn't make it, but I was
very scared.
I found a line that I read every day when I left the house before I drove
to work.
'Sometimes you have to jump off the bridge and build your wings on the
way down'.
--- Teri
I have always wanted to help people in the same situation and if reading
this will help someone know that others have done it, I would be very
pleased.

where we have never gone. Only by pressing the limits do you ever find
them."

"When I fall on my face from time to time, I try not to worry
because I'm still going forward!"
--- Linda Aucoin --- Nova Scotia, Canada

IT ALL DEPENDS ON ME."

Until Next Time, Remember:
The following version, without the
title "The Optimist Creed,"
is quoted from Science of Mind 71 (June 1998):
Promise YourselfTo be so strong that nothing can disturb your
peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in
them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come
true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only
the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about
your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater
achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every
living creature you meet.
To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to
criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and
too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in
loud word, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you
are true to the best that is in you.
--- Christian D. Larson --- Optimist
