Welcome to the
Third Edition of MotivateUs.com's Newsletter

Dear Friend,
Our newsletter
community is growing and I appreciate all the comments you
have sent in. Thank you for the feedback and know that I
value you and always look forward to hearing from you.
Today I'm feeling a little playful and would like to pose
the following questions because I'm a big believer in and
practitioner of self-improvement:
Are you in sales and marketing?
Who are your "customers"?
What are you trying to market and sell to them?
Before you start laughing or say, "Wow, she
doesn't have a clue about what I do", look at the
definition of sales. According to Wikipedia, sales are the activities involved in
selling products or services in return for money or other
compensation.
- Are you compensated for the skills you bring to
your job or position?
- Compensated in some way for friendship, love and
trust in your personal relationships?
If you answered yes, guess what? You're
in sales.
Now, marketing.
Knowthis.com, a leading information and resource
website for marketers explains: "Marketing
consists of the strategies and tactics used to identify,
create and maintain satisfying relationships with
customers that result in value for both the customer and
the marketer."
If you do this, guess what? You're in
marketing.
Now, let's think about the "customers" in your
life. Customers are people you interact with every
day.
- Your boss
- Your co-workers
- Your family
- Your friends
- Your acquaintances
See, it doesn't matter what you do or do not do for a
living, everyone is in sales and marketing!
What are you trying to sell or market to your
"customers"? YOU!
Each day you're marketing and selling yourself to
your boss, co-workers, customers, friends and family by
your words and actions. Every day you have to prove to them
that you provide value, whether you realize it or not. In
order to remain competitive, don't you think great
salespeople and marketers keep improving their existing
personal and professional skills and learn new skills along
the way?
Do You Want To Be A Great Sales and
Marketing Professional in "Your Life"?
- Think about the skills that are important to your
personal and professional self-development.
- Decide each month on two skills you will tackle,
one personal, one professional.
- Devise a plan. Write it down, make the commitment
and take action.
- Work your plan each day.
- Chart your progress.
- Practice your new skills constantly.
Sound tough? Maybe - it's all in how you look at it :-)
Do you realize at the end of 12 months, you
will have acquired 24 new skills?
12 professional skills 12 personal skills
What difference could this make in your
life?
A more fulfilling job or better job? A
more fulfilling relationship or a better relationship?
Isn't that what each of us wants? Something
better?
You see I believe that it's up to us to improve
ourselves constantly, rather than wait for someone else to
tell us to do it. I believe in being proactive. Is it
always easy? No, but usually anything worthwhile isn't easy
to acquire. You know yourself better than anyone else, you
know what you have to do. Sometimes you resist making
changes or feel fearful even though you know changes are
necessary.

Feel The Fear - A Little Book That's Helped Me
As I was looking through my collection of books, there are
always a few that really seem to stand out. One of my
favorites that I re-read whenever I feel a little fearful
is called "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" By Susan
Jeffers, Ph.D. You can buy it at any bookstore or look for
used ones.
In her book, Susan describes her life experiences
and what she learned to do to overcome fear. From my point
of view, the stories and advice helped me to truly realize
the power I had over fear. Armed with insights and tools
from the book, you too can learn how to reeducate yourself,
how to explore the barriers that keep you stuck and truly
gain power to live your life fully.

An Article / Story To Ponder:
Never Doubt Yourself
If I would leave any thought with someone I would say
never doubt yourself. No matter what people say, no matter
what you may think sometimes, never doubt yourself. If you
believe in yourself, you will succeed far more than you
will fail. He who possesses a quiet kind of faith in his
ability to perform a task already has the task half
completed.
Believe in yourself despite setbacks, despite the
seemingly immovable obstacles, despite the cold and dark,
despite the woe and pain, and eventually your faith will
come to fruition, and you will find all those troubles
behind you.
The simplest thing in the world is to deride
ourselves because we made a mistake, to give up and say,
"I'm no good", but the more difficult thing is to believe
in ourselves and constructively continue our life. The
greatest error in life is to downgrade ourselves. The most
horrible tragedies in life have occurred from a lack of
faith in one's own self, one's own ability, from a belief
that one cannot succeed, but that failure is their sole lot
in life.
There seems to be a self uncertainty that builds
up in the mind every time one makes a mistake or fails to
accomplish a task, and with every successive blunder the
uncertainty grows stronger until one doubts one's ability
to do anything right. Being human we are host to a number
of frailties, each one of which disturbs and depresses us,
and makes us doubt our worth. We are not a mechanically
precise machine, we are a bundle of nerves which often
tangle and get jangled, but are capable of amazing
performance.
We have more strength than we believe, there is
more fight within us than we know, and far more potential
than we could ever call forth or even dream of being
possible.

Three Quotes To
Motivate You:
"When we sometimes feel like we are at our worst
hour, lowest, in our deepest, darkest black hole this is
what I call our breakthrough time. A time of awakening, new
beginnings, ridding the past and coming into the present
and the future. At your deepest, darkest hour know that you
cannot sink down any lower and the only way to go now is
up. You can now begin to rebuild, restore, and repair. Only
now can you build a new foundation, your dream foundation.
Seize this time to be the New you. This is where it all
begins." --- Marion Licchiello ( a member of
the MotivateUs community)
"Everybody can be great because anybody can
serve. You don't have to have college degree to serve. You
don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve.
You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by
love." --- Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Don't be afraid to give your best to what
seemingly are small jobs. Ever time you conquer one it
makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs
well, the big ones tend to take care of themselves."
--- Dale Carnegie

Until Next Time, Remember:
"Always challenge yourself to improve. Without challenges,
we will never be motivated to improve." ---
