Listening Can Say Much More
I've noticed something about myself that I still catch from time to time.
The moment someone shares a problem, part of me starts looking for an answer. I tell myself I'm being helpful, but I've started wondering who I'm really helping.
Then I think about the times I've been on the other side of that conversation. Sometimes I wasn't looking for advice at all. I just needed someone to listen without trying to solve what I hadn't even finished sorting out.
Maybe you've been there too.
Now, when someone asks for my thoughts, I try to describe what I'm seeing instead of telling them what they should do. It feels different somehow. Less like taking over their problem and more like handing them another piece of the puzzle.
Funny how people often discover their own answers when they don't feel pushed toward ours.
