Sometimes We Forget What Helped

I woke up this morning remembering a dream. That doesn't happen very often, and I caught myself wondering why.

I don't think it's because I suddenly started dreaming again. I think I've always dreamed. Maybe I was finally relaxed enough to remember.

It made me think about how easy it is to accept certain things as "just the way they are."

We get used to falling asleep with tomorrow already on our minds.

One more thing to finish. One more problem to solve. One more worry that follows us into bed, even though we're asking our body to rest.

I started wondering if I used to do something differently.

Maybe there was a habit, a quiet routine, or even a simple thought that helped me leave the day behind before closing my eyes.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped doing it without even noticing.

Have you ever caught yourself thinking something similar?

Not because you want to recreate the past, but because something that once helped you has been waiting patiently for you to remember it.

That thought stayed with me today.

Sometimes we spend so much time searching for something new that we forget to look back at what once brought us a little peace.

And maybe that small reminder is enough to help us dream again.
