Dear HiZen,

I am 16 years old and I have so many career interests. My friends have told me that I am a very gifted person. However, my problem: I will be heading to the university soon to study business management. I don't want to graduate and not know what to do other than just getting a job and a pay check. Please can you help me?

Answer:

Dear Friend,

One of the best positions to be in, on your course of life, is to know what you want to do with your life. Statistics say a lot of people who are employees hate their jobs, but are afraid to pursue their desires; you don't want to be part of that statistic. Furthermore, a lot of things need to be clarified on your journey to self-fulfilment; here are some questions you need to think about deeply.

What career or business would you engage in for the rest of your life, if you found out that money did not exist?
What skills or talents do you have that complement that career or business aspiration?
How would you want people to remember you when you are retired and old in age?
What legacy do you wish to leave behind?

I know you won't get answers to these questions that easily; it will take some time for you to figure it out.

Life is a journey not a sprint.
