"You won't find life on a computer. You won't find life watching television. You won't find life in a grocery store. You won't find life in your car. You won't find life with others. Life is a horse, a wild horse. Chase it down, and saddle up."

Western High School --- Submitted by Shelby K., Age 14
I actually got this quote from my school's student council t-shirt last year.

"How can something so beautiful grow from something so ordinary?"
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Amber C.A., Age 15 --- California
My aunts used to tell me no matter how plain or ordinary something looks, it will always be beautiful.

"Just because you can be serious, doesn't mean you have to. Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, let go of things you can't change and always look forward to a brighter future."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by J.Q., Age 14 --- Illinois
Well, I think that if everyone could just be happy with themselves and forget about everything that doesn't matter, people could lead happier more healthy lives.

"Don't let today only be important yesterday. But don't let yesterday still be the most important thing today."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by R.M., Age 14 --- California
Live today, today. Don't live in the past, but don't only look toward the future. Once today is gone, it's gone.

Author Unknown --- Submitted by Shannon B., Age 14 --- California

"Never set yourself dreams, because they will stay as dreams. Always set yourself goals, because they will be accomplished and always shoot higher than what you want. Never listen to others opinions, erase them from your mind, stay positive, and you will get what you desire."
Written in 2007 by Sebastian S., Age 15 --- California
I decided to write this quote because my friends told me that I wasn't going to be able to go through cross-country practices. They said I was gonna quit. After losing 21 pounds, I showed them and myself that I could accomplish what I want - that nothing is gonna stand in my way of my goals!

"Never regret loving someone who once made you smile and changed your life, even if you may not be friends with them any more, they're a part of you."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Lisa C., Age 16 --- Connecticut
This is about losing a good close friendship you thought would last but didn't... I just had to move on.

"I just wanted to tell you I hated you. Through all of the years you've told me what to do and told me I was wrong when I wanted it that way. Well now, here's what I have to say, "Thank you!" You turned my life into something with use. I'm the fire and you're the one that lights my fuse."
Written in 2007 by Katie T., Age 14 --- Kansas
Teachers always say, "They pushed me so hard, and I hated them for it, but now I'm here today listening to their advice and passing it on to you." This quote I made just completes that thought. Your friends will try to stop you from doing something horrible and you'll hate them for it for a while but later you'll love them for keeping it from you.

"Life is short but sweet to the end. There might be many paths that you could take but if you don't try them, you will never know where they lead to. So go on, take a few risks and try them."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Logan B., Age 15 --- North Dakota

"People will hate you, love you, inspire you, depress you, laugh at you, laugh with you, deny you, push you, pressure you, befriend you, hurt you, take you, break you; just don't ever let anyone MAKE you."
Written in 2007 by Natalie T., Age 15 --- California
Don't let them make you guys, don't let them make you.

"Effort never ensures accomplishment; Without effort, you never have even one chance to be successful."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Syen T., Age 19 --- Malaysia
Don't give up, please...

The heart breaks
The trust is lost
The tears sting and yet
The face is what hurts
But in timeĀ…

The heart finds its pieces
The trust is not lost
But left...
The tears have stopped
And the face has healed.
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Lorraine G., Age 15 --- Australia
I selected this poem because getting to the top is not always easy and on the way, it hurts and you just want to give up. With each new day, it's not that you forget, it's that you think of the future and the dreams and about how to make those dreams come true and in time it actually does stop hurting and you can live with the day ahead not the day of the past.

"Only one can know exactly what every footprint means."
Written in 2007 by Ashley N., Age 15 --- Iowa
I wrote this one day in P.E. when I noticed two older guys picking on a lower classmen during a weight lifting segment. I thought about the things they were saying, and realized that no one can know just exactly what another has been through, unless you've walked in their shoes.

"Learning from your mistakes builds wisdom within one."
Written in 2007 by Brent R., Age 14 --- New Jersey
I thought of it to help me try harder in every day life.

"Sometimes you have to admit you are weak, to know you are strong."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Janine L., Age 19 --- Philippines
I read it in a local book and as I was reflecting on it, I realized that it was indeed true. It helps me realized many things that happened in my life.

"Forget about the past, because it's already forgot about you."
Written in 2007 by Megan R., Age 17 --- Iowa
I came up with this is my senior art seminar class a couple weeks ago. Don't dwell on what happened; just be happy for what you have at this exact time. Life isn't always bright and shiny but live it to the fullest.

"I've never been in love, and that's what's fascinating about it."
Written in 2007 by Shelby V., Age 14 --- Georgia
I wrote this because I know I'm falling in love right now. I know I seem young to say that but age is just a number and love knows no number. I haven't yet hit that exact point of love, and the fascinating part is falling into it.

"Time stands still when no one understands you and you don't quite understand yourself. Today didn't have to be this wavy, tomorrow is another day, another chance to make things right."
Written in 2007 by Christa S., Age 13 --- Michigan
Well, life is the best thing that ever happened to us. So many people take it for granted. This quote tells you that you always have another chance to make things right in life.

"Everybody has potential to be what he or she wants to be; but it's what you do with that potential that can make or break you."

"When life kicks you down, kick it back and make things better."
Written in 2006 by Jessi R., Age 15 --- Canada
I came up with this when I was in the bathroom at school. I had been having a hard time and I saw that people had written things and I started reading. Then, just as I was finished, this popped into my head and it helped me get over the rough time and life went better than it was before in no time.

"If it were easy, we wouldn't learn."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Jake R., Age 18 --- Texas
I refer this often to my own life. But, some people like to use it as a motivational quote toward getting their homework done.

"Life is like a photograph; we use the negatives to develop."
Written in 2007 by Steve N., Age 16 --- California

"To me, life is best defined as the past, present, and future; you can't change life in the past, so there's no point in dwelling on it, make the most of your present life, so there is no reason to dwell on the past nor a reason to worry about the future."
Written in 2007 by Alyssa A., Age 16 --- New York
This is a part of an English essay I wrote on life, my own take on what defines life.

"Try your hardest to make things better. Don't make them worse."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Joey M., Age 13 --- Canada
I thought of this after my friend kept being mean for no reason to her other friends. I told her this and although it may not of helped her, it can help other kids too.

"True friends are those that push you to achieve when you need a boost in life, stand by your side through rough times and walk ahead of you when you need direction."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Upasna K., Age 19 --- Canada
As far as I am concerned, I haven't met anybody like that yet...because in today's world they hardly exist and even if they do, they are very hard to find. Friendship is a two way street...I was always there for my best friend but when I was going through rough times, she wasn't there for me. If you find someone who suits this quote...then grab on to them no matter what...because that friend would be one in a million.

"We fear change because it is different, but we fear different because it is change."
Written in 2007 by L.K., Age 16 --- New Hampshire
I was supposed to look up quotes for my health homework when I stumbled upon these quotes. I really want to make a change in the world, and people should know...if you are determined you can make a difference there's nothing holding you back.

"You must stand by yourself before you can stand with someone else."
Written in 2006 by Tiara M., Age 14 --- New Jersey
I wrote this quote myself. I chose to put it on this site cause so many females want to have a boyfriend or someone to love. So many mothers want to get married but I feel that we as women need to discover what it's like being independent. We need to understand that we are the diamond in every relationship. Every woman deserves a good man however, that doesn't mean we have to sell ourselves out. NO... we are women black, white, spanish etc., we need to depend on God before any man. We need to love ourselves first before we expect anyone else to. And that my friends, is the bottom line.

"Remember, you can never change the past but you can get over the past."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by A A-O., Age 16 --- Wales
Someone told me this when I was going through the difficult moment of my life, and when I thought all hope was gone.

"After facing one opponent 10 times, and being defeated each time, just stand up, and say,'Lets go for the 11th round!'"
