On teaching, learning and life...
"You must first touch the heart before you can teach the mind."

When I started doing presentations for teachers, I liked using quotes that pertained to my subject. With many years of experience under my belt (31 yrs.), I realized that it isn't the program, or the basal, or the wealth of the school, that makes a real difference in a child's life. It is in fact, being able to reach the heart of the child before they open their mind's to what you have to offer. It's all about making links. As I have used this quote many times, I've also realized that these words have merit in any life situation.

"I would like to thank my Algebra II and Teacher Cadet teacher, Mrs. Pickett. This remarkable woman I met this year not only loves each and every student, as if they were her own child, but she takes the time to answer questions, not just ask them like most teachers do. My life has been hard lately, and I just want to thank her for letting me know that she cares about me."

"Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid."
John Wayne --- Submitted by Nicolas Salibrici
Most people fudge the meaning of the quotes, especially my students. It does not mean that anyone isstupid, however; it means that if your actions are stupid then life will indeed become tougher.

"I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers."

Dreams are the threads of things that can be.
But it's the fabric we must choose to weave.
For myself, I choose to be,
A weaver of Dreamers, for their dreams I'll see.
