It means that if one sets out to realize one's desires, one may want to give up in the face of obstacles which will be in one's way. However, if one focuses on the desire, that is, the goal, one gets the motivation to make the effort to overcome these obstacles and achieve one's goal (prized skies). Even if one does not reach the goal at least one is nearer to it, than at the start. One has to make an effort despite obstacles which will crop up, just like flies fight gravity, which pulls them back, to fly in the air. Mere wishing will only make one frustrated in the end.
